Vic High Improv

The Vic High improv teams will be performing at the Canadian Improv Games (CIG) Exhibition Rounds on Thursday, November 10 at the Esquimalt High School. Tickets are just $5! This is the kick off of the CIG season here on Vancouver Island. Teams will be doing a mock competition in three of the five CIG events. Come and see the teams from the South Island Zone show their stuff on stage!

Join us as members of the Vic High Improv Club present Vic-GORE-ia, an Improvised murder mystery. Also, come and meet our newest members as they kick off the evening with a short improv jam! Admission is by donation ($2 minimum) and all proceeds go towards funding club activities! Clubs Day - Beginning of the School Year The 2015-16 school year was an epic one for the improv club! We kicked off the year with Lily, Zoe, Emily, Jacob and Serenity plugging the improv club at the club days event (happens at the start of every school year). We started with quite a large team - in the neighbourhood of 25 people. In fact, we even had enough to form a "recruits" (or junior team)! With the help and dedication of Vic High alumni, Joe Traill, we started up the year with a bang! Coach Joe! After consulting with the students, we opted not to participate in the Canadian Improv Games for this year - the students were looking to expand their long form improv skills, plus we already had a busy time ahead fund-raising for our second trip to the Berlin Improv Festival ! Initially, we held practices together as one big group... but shortly thereafter split up into two groups (making sure 25 people get some stage time is tough - easier to split into the two

Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at the Victoria Event Centre It's been a wild year so come join us for the year-end performance before summer takes over our collective lives! Both the recruits and the vets will be performing this evening - so bring your friends and support improv at Vic High! It's just $5 cash to get in! Doors open at 7pm Show starts at 7:30pm and runs until 9:15pm (one 15-minute intermission).  The Victoria Event Centre is located at 1415 Broad Street, right across from CTV Vancouver Island and a stone's through from City Hall.

Berlin 2016 Travelers And so this trip comes to an end! It's been almost a year in the making and the results were off the charts! We have many people to thank, but most importantly we want to thank Christoph Jungman (Producer, Berlin International Improv Festival) and Die Gorillas for their unparalleled generosity towards us! Christoph designed a one-of-a-kind program for us at the festival which had us taking workshops from two outstanding improvisers, Camilla Frey (Oslo, Norway) and Björn Harras  (Berlin, Germany), attending a grand total of seven festival performances, and, the icing on the cake, performing at the opening act for the show, Spranguage, on Saturday, March 19. Trips like these have lasting positive effects on the students that attend them and this trip certainly left plenty memories in the minds of both the students and the chaperons (Alan Penty, Grace Leach and Jonathan Argue) which will last for years to come. We managed to raise just over $1,900 all told! This is part 2 of our fundraising effort to try and eliminate the remaining trip payment, plus provide some communal funds for groceries while we're on the ground in Berlin (the Euro is trading at about $1.60 CAD (as of February 21) so that makes it pretty expensive for our students to eat!).  The evening will feature the entire team and a variety of short form and long form games and scenes - there is something for everyone!
